A BRIEF HISTORY

Solea was built as a German Government Research vessel for use in the North Sea and the Baltic and is ice reenforced.
In 2004/05 she passed into private hands and was then extensively converted to a private exploration vessel.
The conversion took place at Peter’s Shiffbau in Northern Germany. The vessel was stripped out, redesigned and almost completely rebuilt during the conversion process. The entire process was carried out under the watchful eye of Germanischer Lloyd and she now complies with their class rules.

All the interior bulkheads were removed and replaced by modern components, the electrical system was virtually entirely replaced, and the sanitary system redesigned and rebuilt to cope with the additional accommodation spaces.
All the cabins on board (including Crew) now have ensuite facilities. All the navaids were either upgraded or replaced.

The interior of the vessels reflects the owner’s elegant taste and reflects a Zen like simplicity. Special soundproofing materials were installed in the bulkheads and floors. Wool carpets were fitted throughout.

The Solea was redesigned to be used by those that want to explore off the beaten track in an extremely comfortable and refined environment and yet in a "low profile vehicle" with appropriate tenders equipped with radio and GPS.
